About client

Coconut Lagoon, situated in Kumarakom, Kottayam, undertook a significant project  involving the design and installation of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). Boasting a daily capacity of 100 cubic meters and incorporating Global Labs System (GLC) technology, this initiative aimed to ensure  disposal of  treated water  to surrounding water resources.

Nestled in the heart of Kerala’s picturesque backwaters, Coconut Lagoon Resort in Kumarakom stands as a beacon of luxury intertwined with eco-consciousness. This unique resort, surrounded by tranquil waters and lush greenery, offers an idyllic retreat for travelers seeking both relaxation and a connection with nature. However, what truly sets Coconut Lagoon apart is its unwavering commitment to sustainable tourism through exemplary waste management and environmental stewardship.

At Coconut Lagoon, waste management practices are meticulously designed to minimize environmental impact. The resort implements a comprehensive waste segregation system, ensuring that recyclables, organic waste, and non-recyclables are appropriately processed. Organic waste is composted on-site, creating rich, natural fertilizers that nurture the resort’s extensive gardens. Additionally, the use of single-use plastics is significantly reduced, with alternatives like reusable containers and biodegradable materials being prioritized.

Environmental management at Coconut Lagoon goes beyond waste reduction. The resort operates on sustainable principles, including energy-efficient practices and water conservation measures. Solar panels are utilized to harness renewable energy, while rainwater harvesting systems help maintain water resources. The 100 m3/day capacity waste water treatment plant ensures water needs in irrigation. The architecture of the resort itself is a testament to sustainability, featuring traditional Kerala-style buildings constructed with locally sourced materials.

Through these dedicated efforts, Coconut Lagoon Resort not only offers an unforgettable luxury experience but also serves as a model for responsible tourism. Guests can enjoy the serene beauty of Kumarakom, knowing that their stay supports and promotes environmental preservation.
